William J. Kiernan is director of Global AgInvesting Research & Insight for HighQuest Partners, where he has primary responsibility for conducting and managing research in the agricultural sector in response to continued market demand for sector research, insight, investment knowledge and information-based offerings.
Mr. Kiernan also will oversee production of information products including newsletters, position papers and market data, and will develop ways to better connect the agricultural sector’s capital needs with capital sources.
Prior to joining HighQuest, Mr. Kiernan served as Senior Research and Investment Analyst at the Hancock Agricultural Investment Group where he directed macroeconomic and industry research for the global agricultural sector, as well as assisting in new product development, investment analysis, asset valuation and asset and portfolio management.
Mr. Kiernan has also co-founded, owned and served as senior advisor to Greentech Research, LLC., the investment manager for the Greentech 21st Century Fund, a long/short global equities hedge fund investing in the equities of companies in the agriculture, alternative energy and clean technology sectors.
Prior to this, Mr. Kiernan spent 12 years in various senior-level positions in the Farm Credit System, the largest provider of capital to the U.S. agricultural sector, and worked in his own consultancy business completing engagements for investment advisory firms and large agricultural and real estate firms.
A graduate of Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Mr. Kiernan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics and Finance.
