Soyatech President Peter Golbitz Elected to World Soy Foundation Board (3.22.2007)

BAR HARBOR, ME – Soyatech, LLC announces that founder and president Peter Golbitz has been elected to the board of directors of the new World Soy Foundation (WSF). A program of World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH), the foundation is dedicated to sustainable nutrition for all, envisioning a world where people will have adequate nutrition to survive and thrive.

WSF works with private voluntary and non-governmental organizations to deliver soy protein and nutrition education to people who need it around the world. Projects sponsored by WSF include complementary foods for children 6-36 months, school feeding programs and soy nutritional services.

“I am honored to be a part of an organization that has such far-reaching impact on world hunger,” said Golbitz. “I look forward to working with the board and World Soy Foundation team and to helping them work towards extending the benefits of soy and good nutrition to the world’s hungry.”

“The World Soy foundation is thrilled to have a leader like Peter Golbitz on the founding board of directors,” said WISHH Executive Director Jim Hershey. “Peter brings years of expertise to this important initiative that helps soy be part of the solution for global hunger as well as the critical nutritional needs of people in developing countries. With 18,000 children dying daily from nutrition-related causes and nearly 40 million people living with HIV, there is much work to be done.”

Peter Golbitz is president of Soyatech, guiding one of the world's leading consulting, research and information sources for the soybean, oilseed and agribusiness industries. As an internationally recognized expert and consultant he has chaired more than ten international symposia on the soybean-based products industry and has presented insightful presentations and workshops on the market for value-added agricultural products and food products in many countries around the world. He has authored a number of major studies on the soybean and soyfoods market and has written a best selling cookbook, Tofu & Soyfoods Cookery - Delicious Foods for a Healthy Life.

Mr. Golbitz has also served on the board of directors of the Soyfoods Association of North America, a trade group representing soyfoods manufacturers and marketers, for more than fifteen years. He is the current chair of the association's technical committee and co-authored the processing standards for both tofu and for soymilk in the U.S. Prior to his work at Soyatech, Mr. Golbitz founded a soymilk, tofu and meat alternative company. He also developed a small soymilk machine for home use.
