Premium Foods Entrepreneur to Address Soyfoods2011 Conference on the Potential for the U.S. Industry (1.12.2011)

Soyatech, LLC -- SOUTHWEST HARBOR, ME -- January 12, 2011 -- Entrepreneur John Sharffenberger, who successfully pioneered the development of the sparkling wine and premium chocolate industries in the U.S. during the 1980s and 1990s, will address his optimism for the tofu and soyfoods industry at Soyfoods2011: Plant Proteins and Oils for Better Nutrition, a conference from leading soyfoods industry intelligence resource Soyatech, LLC on March 9-10, 2011 at the Sheraton Park Hotel in Anaheim, California.

The key, though, according to Scharffenberger, is creating high quality products that meet consumers’ needs. During the morning, plenary session of Soyfoods2011, he will elaborate on the lessons for the soyfoods industry that he has gleaned from more than 25 years of acting on his passion for creating and selling premium foods.

Joining John Scharffenberger at this third annual conference in the Soyfoods series will be other leading speakers including:

•Shara Aaron, nutritionist and principal at Nutrition Communications, Inc.,
•Mark Messina, world-leading researcher on soy and health and president of Nutrition Matters, Inc.,
•Bridget Owen, associate director of the National Soybean Research Laboratory,
•Andrea Pierce-Ghafoor, marketing manager for dairy & alternatives at Tetra Pak Canada, and
•Donald Wilkes, president of Blue Pacific Flavors.

Soyfoods2011 will provide opportunities for finding global business partners and potential customers throughout the value chain, and sessions planned for the event will cover topics such as:

•determining how consumer trends are influencing the U.S. market for soy protein-based foods and healthy oils;
•understanding and communicating the reality of the relationships between soy and health;
•identifying opportunities for growth in the non-dairy and meat alternatives categories;
•exploring the nutritional properties of healthy vegetable oils;
•anticipating the potential for emerging edible oil traits; and
•evaluating the role of soy in developing new solutions in world nutrition.

The Soyfoods2011 program is specifically designed for food manufacturers and marketers; manufacturers of healthful food ingredients; nutritionists and dieticians; retail food buyers and food processing equipment manufacturers.
