Agribusiness industry expert from HighQuest Partners to speak at Moscow Conference (12.20.2011)

DANVERS, MASS., December 20, 2011 – Philippe de Lapérouse, managing director at HighQuest Partners and director of the firm’s Global Food and Agribusiness Practice, has been selected to be one of the keynote speakers at the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR) conference, Where the Margin Is, in Moscow on January 31, 2012 at the Radisson Slavianskaya Hotel.

As a featured speaker, Lapérouse will address the development of farmland investments as an emerging asset class, with particular focus on the opportunities and challenges of investing in the FSU. This presentation will set the foundation for discussions at this annual conference that will bring together agricultural producers, inputs manufacturers, dealers and distributors, financiers, insurers, agribusiness investors, and policy makers from throughout the world.
“We believe the conference will stimulate the exchange of recent developments occurring globally and contribute to better corporate strategies and government decisions,” said Dmitri Rylko, general manager of IKAR, a research institute that provides analysis and forecasts for Russia’s agricultural commodity markets, with particular focus on grain, sugar, oilseeds, meat and dairy products. “Mr. de Lapérouse’s expertise will provide a valuable context for attendees seeking to evaluate farmland investment opportunities in Russia and Eastern Europe.”
Because of his expertise in the agribusiness sector, Lapérouse is often a featured speaker at industry events, such as the Malaysian Palm Oil Council’s annual conference, the World Ag Forum Congress, APK Inform conferences held in Eastern Europe, and the Global AgInvestingSM conference series, which he also chairs.
Lapérouse has more than 25 years experience in senior leadership positions with global companies in the agro-industrial and value-added food chain sectors as well as in private equity investing. Before joining HighQuest Partners, a leading specialist strategy advisory firm working with strategic and financial investors focused on the global food, agribusiness, biofuels and biochemicals sectors, he had held leadership executive positions with Ralston Purina International and Bunge North America.
Lapérouse also has been associated with the Fund for Large Enterprises in Russia (FLER), a private equity fund investing in Russian enterprises and joint ventures with Western companies, where he was, among other duties, responsible for the firm’s flagship Moscow office and overseeing investment activity in Russia.
Lapérouse earned an MBA from The Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, and a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College.
