Highquest Partners’ agribusiness expert tapped as keynote speaker for the Australian Grains Industry Conference 2012 (7.30.2012)

BOSTON (July 30, 2012) – Philippe de Lapérouse, managing director at HighQuest Partners and director of the firm’s Global Food and Agribusiness Practice, has been selected as the keynote speaker at the Australian Grains Industry Conference 2012, taking place July 30 through August 1 at the Crown Conference Centre in Melbourne, Australia.

Lapérouse’s keynote address, Global AgInvesting trends and implications for the Australian Agribusiness Sector, will focus on where investments are being made in oilseeds and where the greatest return is, as well as discussing the drivers behind the dynamics of the oilseed market today and the future prospects.

Lapérouse also will participate in the July 30 Grain Trade Australia Advisory and Compliance Workshop by presenting Private Sector Investment in Agricultural Infrastructure.

The three-day conference, hosted by leading grain industry associations Australian Oilseeds Federation, Grain Trade Australia and Pulse Australia, is a high-level market event that brings together the Australian and global grain industry in a premium networking event as well providing the latest information concerning grain markets in Australia and globally.

Because of his expertise in the agribusiness sector, Lapérouse is often a featured speaker at industry events, such as the Malaysian Palm Oil Council’s annual conference, the World Ag Forum Congress, APK Inform conferences held in Eastern Europe, and the Global AgInvestingSM conference series, hosted by HighQuest Partners, which he also chairs.

Lapérouse has more than 25 years experience in senior leadership positions with global companies in the agro-industrial and value-added food chain sectors as well as in private equity investing. Before joining HighQuest Partners, a leading specialist strategy advisory firm working with strategic and financial investors focused on the global food, agribusiness, biofuels and biochemicals sectors, he had held senior executive positions with Ralston Purina International and Bunge North America.

Lapérouse was also associated with the Fund for Large Enterprises in Russia (FLER), a private equity fund investing in Russian enterprises and joint ventures with Western companies, where he was responsible for the firm’s flagship Moscow office and overseeing investment activity in Russia.

Lapérouse earned an MBA from The Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, and a bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.
