Veteran investors to convene at GAI Asia to discuss the role of agriculture in the portfolio (8.27.2012)

BOSTON (8/27/12) – Investment industry titans Jim Rogers and Stephen Diggle will come together for the first time to discuss agriculture as an emerging asset class at the Global AgInvesting (SM) Asia 2012 conference at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, September 25-27.

Both outspoken proponents on agriculture in the portfolio, the two will address the topic during what should prove to be a lively Q&A session during the Short Course on Ag Fundamentals on Tuesday, Sept. 25. They will discuss their traditional investment backgrounds, major trend shifts, and make the case for investment in global farmland, agribusiness private equity, agricultural commodities, and listed food and agribusiness corporations.

In addition, Diggle, of Vulpes Investment Management, will present a case study: A Systemic Shift Toward Real Assets, a personal odyssey from hedge funds to farms. Rogers, who is the keynote speaker at Global AgInvesting Asia, will provide insight through his address entitled, How I See the World Today, and What I Am Doing About It.

Global AgInvesting, the world's premier agriculture investment conference series, returns to Singapore to build on its successful inaugural event there in December 2011. This conference provides access to a targeted gathering of key forward-thinking end investors, sector education, exposure to deal flow, overviews of diversified strategies, discussion of industry trends, and opportunities to develop new partnerships.

Attendees, who will have the opportunity to build their networks and gain a greater understanding of agriculture as an asset class, will include allocators, fund managers, industry executives and other thought-leaders from throughout the industry who are committed to putting real money to work in the space. A discussion and education on global markets, regional risk and return profiles, crop specifics, liquid vs. illiquid strategies, the major role of water as its own asset class, and an exploration of new technologies will be the focus of this landmark conference.
