BOSTON (10/16/12) – The eighth conference in the industry-leading Global AgInvestingSM conference series hosted nearly 300 attendees from 27 countries at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore last month. Global AgInvesting Asia featured presentations and panel discussions from top agriculture fund managers and international thought leaders focused on global challenges and opportunities in the agriculture sector.
The next event in the series, the third annual Global AgInvesting Europe, will take place in London at the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, 3-5 December 2012. The series is hosted by HighQuest Partners, a globally-recognized consulting, events and media company serving the food, agriculture, agribusiness, and biofuels sectors.
In Singapore, attendees had the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Jim Rogers, along with panel discussions that provided an overview of the investible landscape in the agriculture space. Additionally, new formats, including topic-driven roundtable discussions and an Ag Manager Showcase, provided attendees the ability to get an in-depth view of various strategies, management teams, case studies, sustainability issues, risks and more. These popular sessions will continue at GAI Europe. “Thanks for hosting such an event,” said GAI Asia attendee Markus Kahlbetzer of the BridgeLane Group. “I think it does wonders for the industry and is a step above the rest in terms of connecting farmers/managers to the serious money.”
The unveiling of the World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) new report, The 2050 Criteria: Guide to Responsible Investment in Agricultural, Forest, and Seafood Commodities, drew much attention at GAI Asia. This guide to responsible investing in 10 major commodities sectors also includes key performance criteria for identifying responsible practice.
Responsible investing will be on the forefront of conversations at GAI Europe. Those interested in becoming part of these consequential discussions, while enjoying unrivaled opportunities for networking, building relationships, and acquiring a deep and nuanced understanding of the industry, will have that chance in London, 3-5 December.
