How-To Guide on gender inclusion in agribusiness needs stakeholder input

BOSTON, December 17, 2016 – As a follow-up to a groundbreaking study on women’s representation in the agribusiness sector, facilitator HighQuest Group has announced plans to release, in April 2016, “The How-To Guide to Gender Inclusion in the Agribusiness Sector.” Participants– companies in the agribusiness industry– are now sought to contribute in the data collection phase of the special project.

“We had great response to our 2013 report, “The Changing Demographics and Experience of Women in Agribusiness,” which provided a snapshot of women in the sector, highlighting the opportunities to increase women’s participation and leadership and establishing important benchmarks,” said Joy O’Shaughnessy, director of Women in Agribusiness Initiatives at HighQuest. “This new study will build upon those key findings, offering concrete solutions for businesses to employ in the effort to create equitable gender representation in the industry.”

As with the 2013 study, the comprehensive How-To Guide will rely on the input of more than 100 agribusinesses in North America. HighQuest is now reaching out to those who participated previously and seeking new representative companies to provide critical data during the collection phase.

Along with a demographic update of the 2013 statistics of women serving across the agri-food sector, “The How-To Guide to Gender Inclusion in the Agribusiness Sector,” will include:

• Five reasons agribusinesses should strive for equitable gender representation
• A comparison of gender equality in the agribusiness sector in North America and abroad
• A detailed comparison of the experiences and attitudes of men and women in the agribusiness sector
• Current case studies that address the challenges, and provide the tools and strategies, to implement programs to increase gender equality
• The evaluation of availability of programs to recruit, retain and advance women in agribusiness

There are three easy ways to participate in the How-To Guide: pre-order the guide by April 1, 2016 for a discounted price; become a sponsor of the research; and participate in the study at no cost.
