HighQuest Subsidiary Soyatech Announces Featured Speaker at Soyfoods 2009 Conference

Press Release -- SOUTHWEST HARBOR, ME -- January 19, 2009 -- Dr. Ronald E. Guymon of the Food and Brand Lab at Cornell University will be a featured speaker at the Soyfoods2009 Conference in Anaheim, California on March 3. Presented by Soyatech, LLC, the global media, marketing, and event platform for the food, oilseed and agribusiness industries, the conference will take place at the Anaheim Hilton in conjunction with the Nutracon Conference and SupplyExpo, which are produced by New Hope Natural Media.
Dr. Guymon serves as Director of Corporate Engagements at the Food and Brand Lab, which uniquely focuses on the psychology behind what people eat and how often they eat it. The Lab has as its mission helping consumers eat more nutritiously and responsibly. Dr. Guymon’s presentation, “Marketing Nutrition: Lessons for Positioning Soy-Based and Other Healthful Foods,” will set the stage for an intense day of learning strategies covering such topics as:

•    How is the marketing of nutrition different than the marketing of any other attribute of a product?
•    What are we learning about the labeling of healthy foods?
•    How might soy-based and other healthful foods be marketed to combat obesity?
•    How can the perfect customer be profiled?

“Dr. Guymon’s presentation adds a fascinating new dimension to the Soyfoods2009 Conference, which will focus on fostering innovation and new growth in the production and marketing of soy-based and other healthful foods,” said Joe Jordan, Content Director for Soyatech.

Dr. Guymon holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Psychology and a Bachelor of Sciences in Education. His diverse career experience includes senior management positions in the corporate sector. In academia, he has served as university professor and in other adjunct faculty assignments. He also served as director of the worldwide literacy program for the LDS Church Educational System, where he developed and implemented basic literacy programs among less-advantaged countries of the world. For the past 25 years, representatives from the majority of the Fortune 500 companies have requested his consultation services, seminars and lectures.

In addition, Dr. Guymon has pioneered Healthy Weight Coach, a program for wellness providers and their patients, based on his work in the area of mindless weight loss. Using mainstream medical research and working with prominent medical doctors, Dr. Guymon developed a curriculum and self-tracking system that complements the popular diet regimens. The program is endorsed by Dr. David Jack, MD, former director of the American Board of Bariatric Medicine, and Dr. Brian Wansink of the Cornell University Food and Brand Lab. Combined with Dr. Wansink’s Mindless Eating research, Dr. Guymon’s Healthy Weight Coach effectively addresses the problem of why as many as 95% of all diets fail long-term.

Dr. Guymon joins a prestigious list of conference speakers that include Peter Golbitz, Director of International Business Development, SunOpta Grains and Foods Group; Jim Hershey, Executive Director, World Initiative for Soy in Human Health; Gary Hirshberg, CEO, Stonyfield Farm; Barbara Katz, President, HealthFocus International; Dr. Mark Messina, President, Nutrition Matters, Inc.; and Dr. Lester Wilson, Professor, Iowa State University.

The Soyfoods2009 Conference will explore issues such as the potential for the U.S. soyfoods market; how soy can help fight America's nutrition problems; how currently understood soy health benefits affect the market for soyfoods; the role of soyfoods in developing world nutrition; macro trends in North American flavor preferences and the opportunities these present for healthful foods; and emerging soybean ingredient processing technologies.

The program is designed for soyfoods manufacturers and marketers; manufacturers of healthful food ingredients; nutritionists and dietitians; retail food buyers; healthful foods’ manufacturers and marketers; and food processing equipment manufacturers.
