CFO/CIO Executive Coaching
The Client
Asset Management Holding Company with equity holdings in a diverse group of growing mid-sized Investment Management Firms.
The Challenge
Our Client, the CFO/CIO, wanted a better understanding of the role of the IT Dept., the responsibilities of a CIO, and a feel for IT best practices. The underlying premise was: in his role as a hands-off CIO, what could the CFO reasonably expect from the IT Department, what were the consequences of such an approach, and what specifically could be done to improve IT productivity.
The Solution
HighQuest Partners performed a Situation Analysis to define the current capabilities and readiness state of the Client IT Department. After identifying gaps and anomalies, HighQuest acted as Executive Coach to the client, advising on the role and responsibilities of a CIO in such an environment. HighQuest Partners made specific recommendations on ways to improve the productivity, the effectiveness of communications, and the morale of the IT Department.
The Results
HighQuest Partners helped our Client to better define the role and responsibilities of a CIO. Recommendations made were enacted, resulting in increased productivity. Morale and communications were also improved. The recommended promotion of the Director of IT to the VP of IT level was viewed as a positive message by the IT staff.
